  • Digital Darkroom (DDR)

    The Digital Darkroom (DDR) is the primary still imagery scanning and color critical editing facility at SFAI. Located on the Chestnut Street campus adjacent to the Digital Imaging Studio. The DDR provides students with access to variably sized flatbed reflective/transparency scanners, dedicated film scanners, and color calibrated LCD monitors. This facility enables the creation of large archival scans from reflective media, oversize media, and film of multiple formats and stocks, providing users an easy transition between analog and digital workflows.

    2 Nikon 9000 ED film scanners

    1 Hasselblad X5 Flextight film scanner

    10 workstations equipped with Mac Pro Towers and color calibrated Eizo displays.

    We have several light boxes, scissors, gloves, and film cleaning supplies.

    Negative sleeves are available for purchase at $.25 each.
